State Education Week - May 20-26

State Education Week from 20-26 May is an opportunity to recognise the talent and achievements of students and teachers in state schools, and showcase their wonderful work to the wider community. We would love to celebrate the importance of State Education by inviting parents and caregivers to come in and join us in our ‘Open Week.’ Please come and join in any lesson and be taught something, teach us something or just work with our students. No booking is required, as you are very welcome at any time!

Walk Safely to School Day - Friday May 18

On Friday May 18 Merinda State School will be participating in National Walk Safely to School Day. Walk Safely to School Day aims to encourage safe pedestrian behaviour, and promote the health and environmental benefits of walking, by asking parents and carers to walk to school with their children. On the day children can meet me at the Merinda Park by 8.00a.m. and we’ll walk to school together. I look forward to seeing you there.

National Volunteer Week - May 14-20

National Volunteer Week beginning on Monday 14 May is an opportunity to say THANK YOU to the wonderful volunteers who help at our school in so many ways—P&C, tuckshop, reading helpers, classroom helpers, the Green Army. So many people contribute so much to Merinda State School. THANK YOU VOLUNTEERS!

Red Shield Appeal - Friday May 11

On Friday the 11th of May Merinda State School will be supporting the Red Shield Appeal. Children can wear free-dress (preferably red) for a gold coin donation. Let’s get behind this great organisation.

ANZAC Day Update

As you are aware, next Wednesday the 25th of April is ANZAC Day. We will be holding our service on Friday the 27th of April at 11:30am. On ANZAC DAY, the Bowen RSL Sub-Branch has invited Merinda State School Students and staff to be a part of the ANZAC Day march and commemorations. We need to be outside the RSL building at 38 Williams St, Bowen at 9:00am for a 9:15am start. I look forward to seeing you all at this important occasion.
